California's Own Native Landscape Design has been creating stunning native landscapes for over 20 years (10 years in the San Diego region). Our drought tolerant landscapes are habitat-based and a superb alternative to the water-sucking, high maintenance, sterile, plastic, homogenous landscapes currently dominating suburban sprawl. Our mission is to create beautiful, responsible, low-maintenance native landscapes that re-capture a sense of regional identity rapidly disappearing from California, while increasing available habitat for native birds, butterflies, lizards, and other local wildlife. We also specialize in large properties, where creating a natural park is the perfect solution for those who don't want to hire a full time staff for maintenance and don't happen to own a water district! Why not convert your property into a private nature preserve? Why run off to the country to "get away from it all" when you can have a natural woodland in your own back yard?

We work all over San Diego, with particular emphasis in North County. Our designs are plant community based for maximum adaptability, disease resistance, and drought tolerance. Virtually any garden style is feasible: woodland, desert, formal, even Japanese! If you happen to live in an area prone to fires, we can suggest plantings with higher water content that make an appealing native transition from the wildland interface. Controlling exotic weeds (such as non-native annual grasses and mustard) is a huge priority for us, enhancing the appearance of your property while diminishing a major combustion source and allowing natives to re-establish the site.
